IMMEDIATE OPENINGS FOR FAMILY & ADOPTION SPECIALISTS
Seeking qualified candidates to serve families in West Texas challenged by risk factors for child abuse/neglect or involvement with juvenile justice, women experiencing crisis pregnancies and individuals and/or couples building their families through adoption. Those hired will be provided training needed to implement evidenced-based parent education programs. Family & Adoption Specialists will work part-time and must be available to meet with the parent(s) and/or their child(ren) during daytime hours, evenings or on weekends. This is not a part-time position that is compatible with a full time job.
We are currently hiring Family & Adoption Specialists to serve the following West Texas counties:
Coke, Concho, Tom Green
or
Andrews, Ector, Howard, Pecos, Reves, and Ward
Requirements
q Bachelor's degree—no exceptions (Human services field preferred)
q Knowledge of child development for children ages 0-12
q Experience working with children and families
q Reliable transportation and good driving record
q Work experience in child placement with CPS or a licensed adoption agency preferred
Work Activities
Ø Conduct structured parent training programs in individual home visits and/or group settings
Ø Conduct outreach activities including material distribution, networking with community agencies, and participating in community fairs
Ø Conduct home studies for all types of private adoptions
Occasional duties may include:
Ø Conduct skills based classes for children ages 6 to 12
Ø Provide mentoring and support for pregnant women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy considering adoption as an option
Ø Conduct informational seminars for adoptive parents
Ø Conduct monitoring visits for the child and adult care food program
Qualified candidates must not conduct work for themselves or other agencies that would be a conflict of interest with any CCI program and must be able to pass criminal and child abuse/neglect background checks.
